Murphy Sets Records for Highest Score of 99.06 Out of 100!

April 2, 2004 - Clearwater, FL: Michael Murphy representing Carisma of Edgemont, PA, took first place at the Annual International Paintless Dent Repair “Dent Olympics”. The contest was held during the Mobile Tech Expo in Orlando, Florida where Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) specialists from around the world attended and competed at the Expo. Murphy was up against expert technicians and came out on top with
a record setting score.

Strong International Competition

Event officials stated that “The purpose of the contest was to bring about an industry standard and knowledge to those individuals deserving international recognition for outstanding achievement in the PDR industry.”

Competitors from the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Holland and Singapore gave the event its international flavor. Lasers were used to judge the results of each competitor. The dents were placed into the exterior of two vehicles, by an air cannon. They were then judged on a number of factors, with the perfect score of 100 points being the best. Michael Murphy's repair scored a 99.06 out of 100. Kevin Halewood of Mobile Tech Expo, said “With attendees and competitors from around the world, just to make the top 25 was an accomplishment. Mike should be very proud of his effort."

Dents and Dings Constant Problems for Car Dealers and Owners

Dents from stones, hail, accidents or parking lot door dings have been a problem in the automotive industry for years. Even when transporting new cars to the dealer showrooms, dents and dings can be a major problem. Halewood stated that -- “With the growth of Paintless Dent Repairs, there is now a network of PDR Specialists who can repair a vehicle's exterior panels to As-New condition, without using repair fillers, putty or paint.”

What Is PDR?

Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is a process that reforms metal back to its original condition without affecting the paint finish. PDR technicians use specially designed tools to massage the metal back to its original shape. Sanding, filler or repainting is not needed so, the factory finish remains intact and the vehicle remains structurally sound. Mike Murphy has been a PDR technician for 13 years.
